Fortis was founded in 2012 by Alexis Powell-Howard
We are passionate about delivering a good quality, effective & accessible therapeutic service and we have a team of associates who also feel the same way!
We are also the proud winners of the 2015 Business Hive Small Business of the Year Award.
We have a number of professional associates who work with us providing therapy, training and group work. They are a great group of people and we are proud to work with them.
Claire Brumfield is our Business Co-ordinator and is fantastically organized…keeping us all in check and co-ordinating all elements of our service.
Kelly Gelder, Sarah Mumby-Croft, Tracy Holwell and Stacey Harper are all qualified and professional therapists working with children & young people providing 1-2-1 therapy and group work and are members of The Fortis Education Team. They are also fully trained group facilitators and deliver the Fortis self-esteem, social skills and aspirations programmes in schools as well as Happy to be Me and Happy to be Us. All are members of either the BACP or HCPC and work within the ethical framework.
Tracy Holwell and Jacqui Foster are both qualified and professional therapists working with young people and adults. They are both registered member of the BACP and work within the ethical framework.
Everyone at Fortis has a current DBS Check and Insurance.
Alexis has many years’ experience as a psychotherapist working with adults, adolescents and children therapeutically and is accredited with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) working within their ethical framework. Alexis has a Masters in Counselling Studies (Integrative) and is also a qualified Systemic Practitioner. Alexis has worked for North East Lincolnshire (NEL) Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) as well as in private practice & in GP surgeries working with adults. She worked for several years within a Systemic Family Therapy Team within CAMHS and also as a therapist working with children and young people from 6-18 years old, as well as with adults in individual therapy.
Alexis is a clinical supervisor for qualified and trainee counsellors, psychotherapists, coaches and staff in education. She is a trainer having delivered training for businesses and having been a lecturer & manager in Higher Education for several years lecturing on counselling, psychology and mental health degree programmes, she has also written courses and University of Hull degree programmes. Alexis has 25 years managerial experience having worked as a director and manager in a variety of different settings and organisations.
